September 30th. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day holds much meaning and it’s hard to put it all in words. But we’re thankful to come together with our friends @nationskateyouth to honor the past and celebrate community together. 🧡🧡🧡 ALL ARE WELCOME. Come and skate from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. We’ll just be hanging out and spending time together. CEREMONY @ 5:30PM. Featuring drumming, dancing and words from our special guests. 🧡

In honour of Orange Shirt Society and Phyllis Webstad, we created an Orange Shirt for our upcoming Treaty 7 trip with @nationskateyouth Our purpose with creating this tshirt is to bring more awareness across the land through our friends at various skateboard shops. These orange shirts will be available at the skateshops tagged below in this post. We are so thankful to partner with our friends at Nations. They’ve been forging a path and working together to empower indigenous youth. We celebrate everyone out there making a difference in their communities. 🧡

Make your ancestors proud! @cordano04 Fresh from Paris. Cordano had a contest in Italy but took a break to come skate with us for the weekend. 🙏🏽 Our friends @medhatskate and @theinsidecanada invited Cordano out for a skate camp in Med Hat. We were so fortunate to get to know Cordano and his mom Nadia. What a special family. Thank you for blessing us with your time and energy. You’re an inspiration to all of us. 🧡

Wednesdays in Mînî Thnî. It started with a few dedicated homies who wanted to create space for kids to skate. No one ever said “let’s build a program.” We just kept showing up together. Programs are in full swing! There’s not much that beats a good skate session with the homies. 🧡 Tonight @seggie25 and the Siksika crew put on a great session INSIDE the Deerfoot Sportsplex. The concrete is perfect and it’s a break from the heat. Tomorrow, @buckyclassic and the Mînî Thnî will be at the Chiniki Skate Spot skating the fresh skatelite they just put on all the ramps! Thursday - @huskyiitomsaipi and the Nitotska crew will be hosting their final skate sesh at the Kainai arena. Next week they’ll be moving next to the rec center. Come and skate with us! ALL of these programs are offered at no cost to the youth or community. None of it could happen without the dedication and sacrifice from our community leaders. They are the real MVPs. Aba wath’tech’no! The Mînî Thnî crew is going hard. Huge thanks to @shredzshop and @boysandgirlsclubcochrane for helping us get new skate lite to resheet the ramps. We still have a bunch of work to do. These are the original ramps from Slam City Jam back in the early 2000’s. They were then bought by @sourceboards for the huge indoor they ran in Calgary. After that they were donated to Banff and used for an outdoor skate park. When Banff built a new park they donated the ramps to Chiniki and now they’re being used out here. What a life cycle! Not once has anyone complained in Mînî Thnî about the ramps. Everyone is just stoked to skate together! What an incredible community. Community programs should be community led. Everyone’s favourite uncle @buckyclassic has been leading the way for 3 years. They have an incredible team out there and they’re building community together. We’re honored to be a part of it.
